The night before Herod was to bring him to trial,
Peter was sleeping…
Acts 12:6
Oh to have the kind of faith that Peter had.
To be able to sleep the night before a trial.
Peter was Working Out His Faith
By Sleeping.
Works are physical.
And Peter trusted God so much that he slept.
He worked out his faith by calming his mind with trust,
And was able to sleep.
Wow.
Kinda like my cup of tea I have every day.
A tea bag on it’s own doesn’t produce my cup of delicious tea.
My tea bag needs hot water.
The longer my tea bag steeps in the hot water
The stronger my tea becomes.
The hot water plus the tea equals deliciousness….
The hot water infused my tea bag
And created the perfect cup of tea.
It is the same with faith and trust.
Faith without the work of Trusting God is simply dead.
The faith will bear no weight,
It will not stand up on its own unless it is paired with Trust.
As women we tend to worry and be anxious.
When we become mothers we worry that much more.
Our hearts are attached to a wee one that is dependent on us
For his or her very survival.
So, we learn to wake at each little cry
And tune our ears to the sounds that come from their rooms.
But at some point we must learn to Trust.
Trust not in ourselves or our ability,
But to trust in the God that created them
And knows their first and their last breath.
He will guard and protect our children more than we ever can.
And so we infuse Faith with Trust
Trusting the God who loves our babies
And who Loves us
So as we lay our heads on our pillow
We can go to sleep…
Trusting that God will work out our lives and our children’s lives perfectly.
Just like Peter did.
