This I call to mind and therefore I have hope;
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning…

I have been watching Kathie Lee Gifford’s response to her husbands death the past few days.
What is remarkable is that although she is pained and although she is sad that she lost her best friend,
She is not consumed with grief.
She is certainly sad and misses him sorely,
I am sure that she has cried until she feels like she cannot cry anymore…
But the grief has not consumed her.
It is because of the Lord’s Great Love sustaining her with All of His Promises that she remains unconsumed.
There are times when I have felt overwhelmed with sadness.
But in each of those times…
My grief has Not Consumed Me.
The reason why is because of the Lord’s Great Love.
Oh Death, where is thy sting?
The dictionary definition of consume means: ‘To completely destroy‘
Do i still cry?
Yes.
Do I feel sad?
Oh yes….
Am I unconsolable?
No.
Why?
Because of God’s. Great. Love.
My sorrow is real and it’s true,
But it is coupled with an ending.
The ending of the grief is knowing that God holds all things.
And He is holding all of my cherished loved ones who have passed on.
And for that reason alone…
I am not consumed.
